Join us for another very special Afrofuturist Weekend! The series opens this year with new performances from our Dark Matter residents kwabena foli, Mojdeh Stoakley, Elijah Jamal Asani, and Shannon Harris.

kwabena foli
kwabena foli was born in Belgium but raised in the Southside of Chicago. Current and forthcoming publications include The Los Angeles Review, Mikrokosmos Journal, Meridian, Crab Orchard Review, Salt Hill Journal and elsewhere. His work is also anthologized in Revise the Psalm: Work Celebrating the Writing of Gwendolyn Brooks from Curbside Press. He’s a member of Nu-Being Collective and was a resident at Banff Centre of Arts & Creativity, The Poetry Center of Chicago, and Chicago Artist Coalition. He currently lives between Chicago and Brooklyn.

Mojdeh Stoakley
Mojdeh Stoakley is a multi-discipline artist, activist, organizer, and educator. Founder of »radiant devices«, Interfaith Poets, and Lethal Poetry. She’s also the Director of Poets with Class at the Chicago Poetry Center, executive producer of the 29th National Poetry Slam, and sits on the board of Surviving The Mic.

Elijah Jamal Asani
nigerian-american experimental artist raised by lillies of the valley. self taught music producer/designer/filmmaker. òrìsà of wet, longing & fuschia. to be continued.

Shannon Harris
Having a multifaceted career as an international DJ, musician, composer, label owner, videographer, Qi Gong instructor, humanitarian, pro-activist, healer, and Audio Pharmacologist™, Shannon has managed to explore obscure territories, regions, genres, styles and traditions through his work in the Healing Art’s. His journey within the field of art and music spans over 3 decades, 6 continents and numerous cultural and spiritual traditions. Internationally initiated into many indigenous modalities since 2003, Shannonbridges his healing arts, science, energy medicine and live entrainment performances under his unique practice entitled “Audio Pharmacology™”.
