A night of rock n' roll at the Cafe Mustache featuring...
Classic Rock’n’Roll is deep within the blood of PEEL, a four-piece rock band from Chicago that plays tunes reminiscent of the free American spirit of Rock music no longer found in many of today’s Rock bands. PEEL released their 10-track scorcher of a tape, Goes Bananas, in 2017 and make their raucous return with their follow-up EP, Never Not Dead.
Post Pink (Baltimore)
The title of Post Pink's latest EP, I Believe You, OK, is something that doesn't get said enough. The victims of abuse are presumed to be liars, to have brought it upon themselves, and any suggestion that a person knowingly got into a dangerous situation is used against them. On “Icky Arnold,” the Baltimore punks adapt a famous fictional version of the latter, drawing on Joyce Carol Oates' 1974 short story, “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been,” in which beautiful teen Connie's covert dalliances at a bar earn her the attention of some unsavory men. But instead of taking her perspective, Angie Swiecicki and Emily Ferrara sing as the titular creep, channeling the predatory mania of his pre-grooming ritual in punchy stabs and leering yowls. You can imagine him in front of the bathroom mirror, like Vincent Cassel or Patrick Bateman; the deviant strut of Post Pink's guitar takes you right inside the erratic pulse beating in his neck. - PITCHFORK
