Pure Joy has been reinventing ourselves, and we invite you to join us for our official (re)launch party! Experience a night of our favorite local bands and artists, and get to know more about the mission and goals of Pure Joy. THIS IS A KID FRIENDLY EVENT.
As a collective, Pure Joy is committed to collaborating with and uplifting other like-minded local organizations, particularly around issues of music, art, and social justice. This show will benefit both our efforts as well as an organization we love, Assata's Daughters:
"Assata's Daughters is a grassroots intergenerational collective of radical Black women located in the city of Chicago. We identify our work as part of the larger Black Lives Matter movement. Our programs aim to escalate, deepen, and sustain this movement for collective liberation."
*6pm gallery opening / 7pm bands (this is not a joke! There are high schoolers performing and other young people will be in attendance, and it would be lovely if you were on time so they have an audience!)

We are all expected to work against racist / sexist / ableist / classist / transphobic / homophobic /fatphobic / xenophobic/ etc garbage in these spaces and in our communities at large. Punk should be a community of care and resistance to fucked up shit, and every single one of us is responsible for putting in the work to make it possible. Care for yourselves, care for each other 💜
